We have seen many a video and image that have covered instances in both Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, moments in which heroic individuals step up to the plate to help their fellow man (and animals). Many times we’ve seen first responders risking their lives to provide relief in any way they can. Officer Seth Stiers of the Clearwater Police Department in Florida is one of those people, and a recent photo taken of him kissing his daughter has gone viral online.

In the photo, Officer Stiers was about to head out into the raging chaos of Hurricane Irma after being dispatched to a shelter for special needs residents who needed 24-hour care, especially during the storm.

But even for a cop, fear is very real.

“The storm itself was very scary and overwhelming,” Officer Stiers recalled in the video below. “I was afraid the whole time, thinking about my wife at home with our three children.”

“That day in particular with all the news and potential devastation, not only did I not know if I was coming back, but I specifically didn’t know when I was coming back and how many days I would be gone.”

As such, that fear led him to kiss his daughter goodbye — a tender moment captured by his wife on camera and then shared online by the Clearwater Police Department.
