The wildfires currently terrorizing Australia are an immense concern to citizens of the world. Not only are they a cruel reminder of what we need to do to save our planet, but they’ve also endangered countless people and precious creatures.
For two of the country’s most concerned citizens, talking about the crisis was an emotional thing. Nonetheless, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban brought attention to the situation on the Golden Globes red carpet.
The Aussie couple’s conversation with Entertainment Tonight began with correspondent Kevin Frazier asking about the status of their home. Early reports had indicated that the couple’s home burned down. Later, a rep for Nicole refuted the claims.
“It is under threat, so keeping a close eye on it. Nicole and Keith Urban have donated $500K to the Rural Fire Services.”
Nicole and Keith announced their generous donation and urged others to contribute in whatever way they could. In an Instagram post on Saturday, they voiced their support for Rural Fire Services. “Our family’s support, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia. We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now.”
“Obviously, it’s day by day right now in Australia,” Nicole remarked on the red carpet. She was visibly struggling with speaking on the emotional matter. “We’re so concerned. We’re so worried. We love our country, so we’re all hoping and praying, but we’re in it together.”
