Nick Jonas will be joining The Voice as a coach for season 18. Nick will replace Gwen Stefani. Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend will return to the coaching chairs.

Nick announced the big news on Monday. He discussed it on his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he was promoting the Jonas Brothers‘ latest album, Happiness Begins. “The cat’s out of the bag,” Nick said to the audience’s cheers.

“I’m so excited about this … [You’re] basically the first people I’ve told. So thank you for being a part of this special moment for me,” he continued.

NBC is excited to have Nick joining the show. “As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick’s success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional,” said Meredith Ahr, president of NBC Entertainment’s alternative and reality group, in a statement.

“We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude, and passion … and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach.”

Nick also posted a video to Twitter sharing his excitement. He said he was psyched to work with the other talented coaches before adding, “While I’m excited to work with you guys, I’m coming for you,” he joked. “I’m hoping for a season one win for Team Nick and the chance to get to work with some amazing talent.”

Meanwhile, Gwen will step back to focus on her Las Vegas residency, which she’s been juggling with her coaching duties.
