An unthinkable tragedy has struck a family from Teaneck, New Jersey. The Trinidad family — the father, 61-year-old Audie; the mother, 53-year-old Mary Rose; and daughters Kaitlyn, 20; Danna, 17; and Allison and Melissa, 13-year-old twins — were driving home from a family vacation in in Ocean City, Maryland.
While driving along a Delaware highway, a pickup truck reportedly crossed the median and struck the family’s minivan. The horrific car crash changed their lives in an instant.
Audie and all four daughters were pronounced dead at the scene. Mary Rose, the sole survivor, was taken to the hospital with broken bones and serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The heartbroken community describes the entire Trinidad family as friendly, hardworking, and all-around good and decent people.
“Blink of an eye, lost everything,” Audie’s brother said. “My brother is a fun-loving family man, he loves his nice family. That’s why they all go out during summer break, he takes his kids out wherever they want to go, and this is what happens.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Mary Rose and has already raised over $170,000. “It is unknown at this time the amount of support this mother will need and we did not intend to set a limited goal,” the administrator writes. “However, any assistance of any kind is greatly appreciated at this difficult time. Please continue to keep Mary Rose uplifted in prayer and all of their friends and family as well.”
