There is an old saying that goes, “Dogs have masters. Cats have staff.” Anyone with feline friends understands that there is some truth to the statement. They also know their labor of love is worth it because of the cuddles and companionship that come with having a cat.

Still, there are certain cats whose behavior can make their owners feel more like indentured servants than valued employees. Enter: Jackson Galaxy, the host of Animal Planet’s “My Cat From Hell.”

Jackson has been wrangling feisty felines on his show for years, but his cat career started much earlier.

He told LittleThings, “22 years ago I was a musician who needed a day job, and I started working at an animal shelter. My life suddenly turned around when I got there, because the cats liked me — it’s like they picked me and I became the cat boy.”

“My Cat From Hell” has delved into and improved the lives of countless families and their pets. Jackson will continue this quest in season nine of his show, which is set to premiere on Animal Planet on April 29, 2017.

“[We] took 50 kittens from the Los Angeles shelter system and drove them all the way to Boulder, Colorado, to place them,” Jackson shared of one special episode to look forward to this season.

Watch Jackson talk more about his show and share a few more can’t-miss cat-related tips in the video below, in a special appearance on LittleThings.
