As ferocious mudslides rock the area of Montecito, California, one man braved the terror to record some shocking footage of the phenomenon.

Marco Farrell was at home when he saw the first hint of the flash mudslide that was heading toward his neighborhood. He, his parents, and their dog were hunkered down at home when it made its first approach.

It was too late to escape. They had no choice but to stay inside until the wave of mud slammed their home. However, Marco went outside and stood in his driveway to watch as the mudslide rushed at them.

Then, he saw a white van driving right into it. “The flash flood is right there! Get out of here — go!” he yelled to the driver.

Luckily, the driver was able to reverse away just as the mudslide arrived. Marco recorded a second longer before running back inside.

Thankfully, Marco and his family survived the ordeal. He told ABC that they stood in their hallway in thigh-high water for more than an hour before the mudslide passed them.

He wrote on Facebook, “We are alive. My parents, Lucas and I are safe. 4 feet 9 raging mud in the house. My 4runner is gone from the driveway.”
