This is incredibly disturbing.

Local news station KTVI reports that day care teachers at the Adventure Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri, allegedly organized a toddler “fight club” back in December 2016.

According to reports, the head teacher came up with the idea to entertain the kids after the day care’s heater broke down. There were approximately 35 minutes of brawling between the 3- and 4-year-old students.

Though the incident happened nearly two years ago, it is making headlines again after one of the moms of the kids involved released video footage of the incident. The video appears to show one teacher excitedly jumping up and down and cheering the kids on as one little boy wearing oversize foam “Hulk fists” pummels another while other preschoolers around them watch.

The mom in question, Nicole Merseal, was particularly heartbroken to see this happen on her son’s birthday. Her little boy’s participation in the “fight club” left him with a black eye.

“He doesn’t understand why his friends were fighting him,” Nicole said. “He got beat up by his best friend. And it was on his fourth birthday.”

Though the teachers were fired and arrested at the time for their alleged role in the “fight club,” they weren’t charged with any crimes. That left Nicole outraged, leading her to share video of the fight that was captured by her 10-year-old son. Nicole’s older son was watching from the next room and saw his little brother crying after being forced to join in on the fighting. He recognized that something terrible was happening and quickly texted the footage to their mom saying, “The daycare was making them fight, not helping them.”

“I am so very thankful that my 10-year-old realized that it was wrong,” Nicole told local news.

The New York Daily News reports that Nicole is moving forward with suing the day care center, and the two teachers allegedly involved were charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
