Mama Polar Bear Dives In Water To Save Cub Who Can’t Swim After He Slips On Rocks

by Jess Catcher
Jess grew up in Oklahoma before moving to New York to become a writer. She has a cat named Agnes.

Maternal instinct is a strong force driving mothers to protect their young ones even in the animal kingdom.

That’s never been clearer than in the precious clip below of a polar bear mama watching over her baby cub. The rowdy little fella put on a super-cute display when he trotted around the snowy rocks but quickly learned the hard way just how slippery those icy slabs can really be.

He even took a few bites of the packed snow before tossing himself around for more fun.

As the largest type of bear, he also showed off just how giant these creatures grow to be — even at such a young age! Of course, his mom loomed even larger as she sauntered more slowly around the little guy.

The clip reminds me of the countless times I’ve watched my sister-in-law try to keep my feisty nephew in line while we’re out and about. Obviously, kids can be a real handful no matter what species they are!

Hopefully this mama bear started giving her son some swimming lessons after this close call. After all, she won’t always be there to help him as he grows up and finds himself in similar situations over the years.

That said, I’m glad someone was there to film this moment between the mother and child.

Take a look to see the sweet rescue for yourself, and be sure to SHARE the clip with your friends on Facebook!
