Finding “the one” is something much easier said than done for a lot of people.
Natalie Johnston, a 42-year-old dental assistant from Tacoma, Washington, knows this all too well after a string of failed relationships.
Like the best of us, Natalie was apprehensive to meet someone new. However, her daughter Megan had other ideas. She decided to make her mom a dating profile, but called her Zoey just to be on the safe side.
From there, Megan screened hundreds of candidates who were all interested in Natalie’s profile. There was one man who stood out: Ray Sexton, a 46-year-old construction foreman.
Megan messaged Ray as Zoey and they had text exchanges for over a month before he finally decided to ask to meet in person in February 2015.
At this point, Megan finally told Mom. Natalie, who is a former correctional officer, decided to give Ray a chance — but not before running a background check.
Luckily, Ray came back clean. Natalie admits that it was love at first sight during their first meeting.
The mom gushes to SWNS news service: “He is hilarious and we are so happy. It is perfect. I couldn’t have picked anyone better if I had tried.”
Ray asked Natalie to marry him in August 2017, and the pair is set to exchange vows in July 2018.
Both Ray and Natalie are thankful for Megan’s interference in her mother’s love life. He says, “When I first met Megan I thanked her and gave her a hug. I consider her my daughter, and her mom will soon be my wife.”
