An Instagram post featuring a 12-year-old girl named Ruby from Lakeville, MN is getting worldwide attention.
Ruby was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called Stromme Syndrome, which causes microcephaly, vision impairment, bowel obstruction, short stature and developmental delays.
There are currently only 12 known cases in the world! Doctors didn’t expect Ruby to walk or talk, but she proved them wrong. Ruby is now in 6th grade and continues to beat the odds!
Ruby’s mom, Angela Ardolf, recently shared a video of Ruby answering questions about her favorite people and things as well as her likes and dislikes.
To Angela’s amazement, the 40-second video went viral overnight, attracting more than 21,000 hits. They quickly went from 700 followers to over 11,000 in just a few days! People everywhere were falling in love with Ruby and her remarkable story.
“Ruby is shining her bright, beautiful light into the dark corners of the world and it is my job to spread it everywhere,” Angela said.
Mom and daughter have been featured on several news shows as well as a variety of websites. Her video continues to spread as she gains more followers and attention. Ruby’s joy and exuberance for life are truly contagious and clearly needed to combat some of the negative stories and stressful events in the world today.
Please help spread Ruby’s light by SHARING her story on Facebook.
