Early in her pregnancy, Jennifer Snowden wanted to see her unborn son. She decided to get a 4D ultrasound to see the little one for the first time.

However, as soon as the doctor saw the image, she said, “There’s something really wrong with your baby.”

Jennifer was in shock. The ultrasound showed that his brain was spilling out of his skull. The condition was called encaphalocele.

The doctor, her husband, her entire family encouraged Jennifer to terminate the pregnancy. The odds of her child’s survival were practically nonexistent. Even if he did survive, doctors warned that he would need 24-hour care.

“I remember asking her, ‘Have you ever seen a case where a baby gets better or is born and defies the odds?’ She looked at me and said, ‘No.’”

Jennifer couldn’t go through with the abortion. She felt that her son deserved a chance at life even if it was a shortened one.

A few weeks later, she had another ultrasound. Doctors could not believe it. His brain had receded back into his skull. It was as if he had healed himself.

When her son, Ascher, was born, Jennifer thought she’d only be holding him for a few minutes. But today he is doing well and hitting all of his milestones. To see how well he is doing, watch the video below.
