‘America’s Got Talent’ Star Michael Ketterer Arrested For Domestic Violence One Day After Finale

Giovanna was born in Rome, Italy and currently resides in South Salem, New York. In her free time, she likes to cook with her children and grandchildren.

Michael Ketterer was a standout star on this season of America’s Got Talent from the very beginning.

The 41-year-old singer, a pediatric mental health nurse, even made Simon Cowell cry at one point during the competition.

Well, now the musician has been charged with domestic violence against his wife, just a day after the finale of the show that made him famous.

According to reports, police were called to a hotel room where Michael and his wife were fighting. When the officers entered, Michael’s wife reportedly had a clear “red mark” on her body. Although she said she didn’t want to press charges, police arrested Michael anyway, explaining, “The law’s the law.”

The fifth place finisher on AGT has been released on $50,000 bond. Considering that his wife’s injuries are minor, the felony charge initially brought against him is likely going to be downgraded to a misdemeanor.

But that doesn’t mean that the repercussions from this incident are minor. Michael’s popularity with fans has plummeted, and one high-profile event has already been canceled.

Michael was an immediate star on AGT. His day job as a pediatric mental health care nurse and worship leader made him instantly likable.

He also has a massive family, complete with a wife and six children. He was portrayed as the ultimate dad.

Of course, you don’t get far in a competition like that without talent, and Michael’s musical ability drove him all the way to the final five.

Unfortunately, that “good guy” image is all but destroyed now. Even though he claims the entire domestic violence incident was a misunderstanding, the charges are pretty serious.

Comments have been disabled on all his photos, presumably in response to the backlash he’s receiving ever since the incident.

Fans are understandably furious at the situation. Like we mentioned, a big part of the reason for his popularity on AGT was his persona. It’s safe to say his reputation is now shattered.

For weeks and weeks, millions of people voted for Michael, buying into the idea that he was a great guy.

But the fact of the matter is, Michael’s biggest supporter wasn’t just a fan of the show; he was a judge.

Simon Cowell gushed over Michael every time he was on stage. Simon loved Michael so much, he actually offered to set the singer up with country star Garth Brooks.

And Simon delivered in spades. Michael sang a Garth-penned song at the finale, and he was set to perform at an upcoming concert with Garth. Performing with a country superstar like Garth Brooks would have been a huge step forward in a promising young career.

But as you can guess, that’s no longer happening. Garth said he spoke to Michael on the phone, and together they “decided it was better that he not appear at Notre Dame and not perform there.”

Assuming the charges against Michael are true, no fans are lamenting his loss of job prospects.

There’s also a fair amount of anger toward AGT and Simon Cowell. Fans feel deceived, as if they were tricked into falling in love with someone who was misrepresented to the public for ratings.

Hopefully Michael’s wife and kids are safe and healthy — what they’re going through right now can’t be easy.
