Michael Douglas recently received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he turned the unveiling ceremony into a beautiful family affair.
People reports that the Wall Street actor was inducted on Tuesday, November 6. As many celebrities who received their stars have done, Michael brought along a selection of the most important people in his life to join him. The actor’s wife of 18 years, 49-year-old actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, attended the ceremony, as did Michael’s oldest son Cameron. But there was one very special guest whom Michael couldn’t help but get choked up over: his 101-year-old dad, Kirk.
The 74-year-old addressed his father during his speech at the ceremony, becoming visibly emotional when speaking about the legendary actor.
“It means so much to me, Dad, that you’re here today,” he said while tearing up, according to People. “Thank you for your advice, inspiration, and I’ll say it simply and with all my heart: I’m so proud to be your son.”
Catherine also shared several sweet videos of the ceremony on Instagram, showing Kirk beaming proudly during the ceremony.
This has been a major year for the Douglas family. Michael welcomed his first grandchild when Cameron had his daughter, Lua Izzy, with his partner. And Kirk, one of the few remaining legends from Hollywood’s golden age, is set to reach an incredible milestone when he celebrates his 102nd birthday next month.
