Everyone has people that they look up to, aspire to be like, or hope to resemble one day.

They’re our idols, our role models, and our heroes in some ways too.

For 6-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi, Lionel Messi is that hero.

Messi is a famous soccer player, and Murtaza wanted to be just like him. So much so, he created a jersey out of a plastic bag to try to replicate Messi’s.

Although it was literally all drawn on a plastic bag, it showed his great admiration and dedication to Messi, and the sport itself.

This 6-year-old boy has much more passion than some people much older than him. So, when the Leo Messi Foundation and Afghanistan Football Confederation heard about this adorable tribute and saw the photos of Murtaza, they decided to do something about it.

They arranged for the two to meet, and the excitement in the Ahmadi family was through the roof.

Unfortunately, it suddenly seemed as if Murtaza would never get to meet his hero, because his father moved the family from their village in Afghanistan due to safety reasons.

Thankfully, though, that thought was false.

His dream did get to come true. These two soccer lovers finally met, and the moments captured are absolutely beautiful.

He wouldn’t let go of Messi’s hand! Messi and the rest of his team welcomed him with open arms and contagious smiles.
