The Spice Girls reunion tour has officially begun, but the road to show time hasn’t been entirely smooth.

Melanie “Mel B” Brown ended up in the hospital after temporarily going blind in one eye. She revealed in a new Instagram post that she was diagnosed with iritis and uveitis.

“Thank you so much for all the lovely support and messages I’ve had about my eye,” Mel B wrote. “I had an awful experience last week where I went blind in my right eye and my left eye went blurry.”

Mel B added that she was in “a lot of pain” and “very very scared.”

Thanks to eye specialists, the issue is under control.

Mel B went on to ask her followers for recommendations for a “very cool Scary eye patch.”

“Does anyone — apart from Madonna — know where I can get one?” she asked.

Initial reports said that Mel B had experienced this eye issue before and that it was “nothing major.” She denied those reports.

Mel B had to go to the hospital after unexpectedly going blind in her right eye.

At first, a source told People that the singer had experienced this before and that it was “nothing major.”

“This has happened before. She has herpes in her eye, so this can happen,” the source said. “She told the doctor she was blind because she couldn’t see but her eye is OK. They gave her some drops and she’s good now. It was nothing major.”

But that turned out not to be the case at all. Mel B cleared up the story with a post on her Instagram this week.

“I had an awful experience last week when I went blind in my right eye and my left eye went blurry,” Mel wrote. “Even though the stupid press said I’m okay and this has happened to me many times before, just to be clear I was NOT okay and this has NEVER EVER happened to me before.”

“Who ever is selling this story ‘a close reliable source’ is full of BS and needs to get their silly facts right big time,” she added. “I was actually in a lot of pain and very very scared.”

Mel confirmed that she was diagnosed with severe iritis in her right eye and uveitis in her left eye.

“I’m taking multiple prescription heavy duty eye drops and other medication the dr gave me that I have to take every day to keep the inflammation under control,” she wrote.

“[I’m] still dealing with it and will be [for] the next 3/4 months to fully get it under control but I’m no longer worried that my condition will get worse,” she continued. “My only problem now is I have to find a very cool Scary eye patch. Does anyone — apart from Madonna — know where I can get one??”

After being treated, Mel B returned to rehearsals for the Spice Girls‘ upcoming reunion tour.

She wrote that Team Spice’s paramedics have been taking excellent care of her and her eyes.

The rehearsals were going wonderfully, a source told People.

“They just had the friends and family show and it went well; her youngest daughter came out,” the source said.

“She’s very involved with the tour and she’s excited about it. All is going well.”

Four of the original Spice Girls are returning for the tour: Mel B, Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Geri Halliwell Horner (Ginger Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice). They’ll perform without Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice).

In another recent Instagram post, Mel B shared photos of her new hair and nails for the tour’s dress run. Good news: Her signature Scary Spice hair is back!

“Getting glam ready for ‘spice girls’ dress run yipppeeee,” she captioned the post.

The four Spice Girls appear to be having a blast together despite a teeny bit of drama. Mel B previously claimed that she and Geri slept together back in the day; Geri denied the allegations and said they were “hurtful to her family.”

The Spice Girls tour kicks off on May 24 in Dublin, Ireland. They’ll also perform in several other UK cities, ending with three shows in London in June.
