In May, Meghan Markle will officially become a member of the royal family when she weds Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

But according to recent reports, she’s already forming a special bond with her future grandma-in-law!

This year, Meghan broke tradition by spending Christmas with the royal family. In the past, a new member would only join the Queen for her annual festivities at her Sandringham Estate if they had already married into the family. For example, Meghan’s future sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, didn’t attend any royal family Christmases until after she married Prince William in 2011.

Royal family fans were abuzz after seeing the future royal side-by-side with her fiancé, Prince Harry, and her future in-laws during their fashionable outing for Christmas Day service. Soon after, Harry opened up about how Meghan’s first holiday with the family went and confirmed they all had a “fantastic” Christmas.  “She really enjoyed it,” Prince Harry revealed. “The family loved having her there.”

According to a new report from Daily Star Online, the royals exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve. Per their typical tradition, the family gave one another jokey “gag gifts” — and Meghan’s gift for the monarch was a real hit.

“Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty,” a source revealed, noting that the gift quickly had the Queen in hysterics.

The Queen’s corgis reportedly liked the gift just as much and tried to steal it for themselves. “It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy. She laughed and said, ‘They can keep my dogs company!'” the source continued.

Daily Mail reports that Meghan’s gift for Prince William also got a few laughs. Sources say Meghan gave her future brother-in-law a hat with fake red hair attached, poking fun at his bald spot.

Meghan’s silly gifts are par for the course and totally normal based on the family’s tradition. According to royal biographer Brian Hoey, Prince Harry got his grandma a shower cap that said “Ain’t Life a B*tch” in 2013, and Prince Charles loves the white leather toilet seat once given to him by his sister, Princess Anne.
