When Meghan Markle made her first public appearance since baby Archie’s birth, she was sporting a brand-new ring!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out for their first joint public appearance since becoming parents at the Trooping the Colour celebration on June 8, 2019. Meghan looked absolutely gorgeous, and eagle-eyed fans noticed a sparkly new ring on her finger, just beneath her engagement ring and wedding band.
People immediately began wondering why the duchess was wearing a brand-new ring. Some fans thought it might be a push present — a gift a dad gives a new mom after she gives birth — but it turns out it was actually a first anniversary present.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot on May 19, 2018. This year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a lot to celebrate on their first anniversary. They had just welcomed their baby boy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, thirteen days earlier, on May 6, 2019.
It turns out Meghan’s brand-new ring is an eternity ring. Eternity rings are often given to celebrate a big event, like an anniversary, and they’re typically completely covered in diamonds to symbolize infinite love. According to People, Meghan isn’t the only royal woman to wear an eternity ring: “Prince William gave Kate an eternity ring after the birth of their first child, Prince George.”
