Deaf Woman Uses Sign Language While Singing Original Song For The Judges

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

When Mandy Harvey walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage, everything was on the line.

She had already amazed the judges and the entire country when she first showed them how beautifully she could sing, despite having lost her hearing years ago.

The technique she used during her first audition involved standing barefoot and feeling the rhythm of the music to help her along through the song. It astounded everyone in the audience and those watching at home.

Now, she was about to prove herself to that audience once again. With the finals coming up soon, this performance needed to be absolutely incredible.

In the video below, posted on September 12, 2017, Mandy stands in the center of the stage and begins singing “Release Me.” As she sings to the music, she signs each word and phrase, completely enthralling the audience and taking them into her own world.

In the end, she wins over the judges and the audience. Simon is especially proud since he used his Golden Buzzer to take her straight through to the quarterfinals. The tough judge even compared her to Adele, which caused Mandy to choke up while thanking him!

For Mandy, this moment means more than anything. It’s her chance to shine.
