In February 2017, Alok Madasani and Srinivas Kuchibhotla were victims of a hate crime in Olathe, Kansas. They were eating at Austins Bar and Grill when a drunk man started harassing them.

That’s when Ian Grillot stepped in. He tried to lead the man out of the restaurant and away from the man he was harassing. All seemed well until 30 minutes later when the drunk man returned. And this time he had a gun.

The man opened fired in the establishment. Ian immediately went towards him to prevent further harm but was shot through the arm and chest.

“I wasn’t really thinking when I did that,” Ian explained. “It just – it wasn’t right. And I didn’t want the gentleman to potentially go after someone else.”

Magically, Ian survived, despite suffering a gun shot wound and collapsed lung. Now, months later, some strangers have a surprise for him.

This past week, Ian and his family were invited onto The Doctors, a daytime TV show. And there, he was given a very special gift.

It turns out that Ian is a huge fan of the country star George Strait. So George sent along a signed cowboy hat and tickets to his show in Vegas! Ian will even be able to meet the star backstage after the show!

But that’s not all. The Doctors, along with some sponsors, gave Ian a $4,000 trip to a location of his choosing, a $5,000 gift card for sporting and fishing equipment, and $10,000 in cash!

Ian has been unable to go back to work because of his injuries, so these gifts will make a huge difference in his life. His gratitude is unmeasurable.
