The love between a person and their pet dog is difficult to understand. In fact, it’s a connection so strong, it’s hard to explain.

Like this Marine, who saved an abandoned pit bull tied to a dumpster, we love our dogs, and they love us.

We will never stop loving them, even when we think they might be gone forever.

Such is the case of Daryl Algren, a man from Maple Grove, MN, who suffered a terrible car accident while returning from his cabin.

His beloved golden retriever, Zoey, was ejected straight through the back window of the car when it crashed.

While paramedics prepared him to be taken to the hospital, he caught a glimpse of Zoey walking along the road, but no one could get to the pup before they sped away.

“That was the hardest part, driving away in the ambulance knowing he was still out there,” Algren said.

Every day afterward, Algren and his friends and family drove around searching for Zoey. He set up traps and cameras, but to no avail.

When hope seemed lost, Algren’s nurse spotted Zoey near her house. Algren found the pup shivering on a blanket on the porch of a nearby home.

The pup had lost 15 pounds and developed a rash while trying to survive in the wild, but he is healing nicely and is finally together with Daryl.
