During a recent filming of ABC’s “What Would You Do?“, the hidden camera show focused on gay parenting and involved a waitress — an actress — saying hateful things to same-sex couples and their children, also actors and actresses.
The show set up the social experiment to see if any unsuspecting restaurant patrons would stand up for the couple.
With the cameras rolling, the first family sits down for breakfast at Norma’s Cafe, and the waitress loudly questions their life choices.
“It’s bad enough that you’re lesbians, but that they don’t have a father, I think that’s kind of bad… I mean isn’t it bad for the kids?” the waitress says.
Two male patrons confront the waitress about her rude behavior, telling her she needs to stop harassing the couple.
When the waitress continues to voice her opinions on gay marriage, one of the men delivers a note to the table. It reads: “I know it doesn’t mean much but I love you all. You have a beautiful family, and I pray that one person’s judgmental intolerance does not in any way put a damper on your hearts or minds.”
The heartfelt message hits home for one of the actresses, who is openly gay in real life. After reading the note, she breaks down in tears and gives the man a hug. During this hidden camera experiment, 24 out of 53 bystanders voiced their support for the gay parents. Wait until you see what else the man said after the hidden cameras are revealed. It’s beautiful and will bring you to tears.
