Mark Duenas was driving through Stockton, California when he saw a woman steal a giant Amazon package off a neighbor’s front porch in broad daylight. He caught the “porch pirate” red-handed, and he wasn’t about to let her get away with it.
So, he began driving right alongside her, shouting and confronting the alleged thief while she attempted to flee on her bike — balancing the massive package on the handle bars.
“I got you!” he yelled at her. “You just stole that!”
“It ain’t yours, it’s mine,” she yelled back.
“No, it ain’t yours. You just pulled that off my neighbor’s yard!”
Mark couldn’t believe what he was seeing, but made sure to record as much of the interaction as possible. Even if he couldn’t get the package back to its rightful owner, he did it for the sake of justice. “I just wanted the lady to know that I got her,” he told Inside Edition. “She was seen. That’s not something you can do in broad daylight and not be seen.”
In 2017, CNBC reported nearly one in five U.S. homeowners has been a victim of package theft in the last year.
