Ah, St. Patrick’s Day.
It’s the day where we all get together to eat, drink, and make merry in honor of the patron saint of Ireland.
For most of us, the name alone conjures up visions of massive parades, glittering green confetti, and Guinness by the pint!
Of course, lots of people also have their own family traditions associated with the holiday, like baking Irish soda bread, or turning Mom’s old-country recipe into a modern meal of corned beef sliders.
After all, plenty of people might celebrate the holiday with a lot of carousing — and there’s nothing wrong with that — but it can be just as fun to mark the day with more wholesome and kid-friendly festivities as well!
For example, this year, we’re totally obsessed with a sugar sweet recipe that little ones will love making, and that will give them the perfect St. Paddy’s treat! Print it out below!
- 3 cups Lucky Charms cereal
- 1 cup room temperature butter
- 1 cup sugar
3⁄4cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
1⁄2cup white chocolate chips
- Pick all of the marshmallows out of the Lucky Charms cereal. Set aside for later.
- Remove 1/2 cup of the plain cereal. Set aside for later.
- Put remaining 2 1/2 cups of cereal in food processor. Crush to a fine powder. Set aside for later.
- Combine butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Mix well with hand-mixer.
- Add eggs to butter mixture. Mix in fully.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt to butter mixture. Mix well with hand-mixer.
- Add crushed cereal to the mixture. Mix well with hand-mixer.
- Add marshmallows, remaining 1/2 cup of whole cereal from earlier, and white chocolate chips.
- Use a spatula to blend marshmallows and whole cereal into the batter.
- Shape dough into balls, and lay out evenly on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake 7 to 8 minutes at 350 °F.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
