When little Luna, a Chihuahua puppy, was snatched and taken away by a coyote, Delanie Woods lost all hope.
In the video below, posted on August 4, 2017, Delanie explains, “Me and my sister just automatically, like, dropped down in tears because obviously, when you see a little puppy this size and heard that it got taken by a coyote, you think she’s dead.”
Luckily for this pet owner and her family, that was not the case.
Six houses away, a neighbor named Michelle Ewing and her husband spotted something unusual happening on a hill in their backyard.
“We look up at the hill and the coyote pops his head up and we’re like, ‘Oh my God!
That’s a dog!'” Michelle recalls.
Immediately, the couple sprinted up the hill toward the lost puppy and coyote. When her husband’s shoes caused him to slip, Michelle kept going. Although she was recovering from a recent hip replacement, the determined wife wasn’t going to give up without a fight.
She made it to the top of the hill and her presence alone frightened the coyote enough to drop the lost puppy and run off. The couple put out “Found Dog” signs around the neighborhood, which Delanie eventually stumbled upon before losing it.
Now, Luna is safe and sound at home with her owners, all thanks to a brave and caring neighbor.
