We try our best to keep our children safe, but sometimes, they slip out of sight. Even when we’re sure they’re safe and take one eye off of them, they can quietly slink away.

It happens to every parent, too. Maybe you’re at the supermarket or the park, then your child hurts herself while you turned away for a split second.

In the case of a 4-year-old girl named Kimber, it was during the early morning hours when she slipped her parents’ radar. Just before 6 a.m., a neighborhood resident found the girl wandering around all alone. She had traces of makeup all over her face.

Police were called and took the child into protective custody. They posted about her on Twitter, trying to locate her family.

Then, just a few hours later, her parents were found. She hadn’t been staying with them, but with relatives — who confirmed that she had snuck out of their apartment in the early morning hours.

Thankfully, she is now at home and resting after the ordeal. Residents concerned about the little girl are relieved she has not been harmed, considering the tragedy that resulted in the death of a little girl around the same age not so long ago.
