These days, it feels like everywhere you look there are people with their eyes and fingertips glued to their phones and laptops. I’m guilty of it myself. People rarely stop to take a moment to look around to see how amazing our world really is.
The following video works to spread the message that “It’s not about battery life, it’s about real life.” It shows people in various scenarios who fail to take in the momentous experiences right in front of their faces because they’re too busy on their electronic devices. The video depicts everything from sad to downright scary — from a mom who ignores her teenage daughter on prom night, to a woman totally oblivious when a small child hops on her bicycle in the middle of the street without any supervision.
But while the first half of this video shows the trouble with too much technology time, the second half shows the flip-side. Watch what happens when these characters choose to put down their phones and connect with the people around them — the outcome is much, much different. As the video fades out, a simple yet powerful statement flashes across the screen: “Sometimes we have to disconnect to make a connection.”
