A Brother And Sister Sing A Beautifully Classic ‘Over The Rainbow’ Duet

Grace plays in a band and is the mother to a black cat named Fitzhugh.

Not every brother and sister can stand to live with each other. Sure, we all care greatly for our siblings, but sometimes… a little distance can be a good thing.

But for Sara and Ethan Lipkind, that’s not true at all. The two share an apartment in Brooklyn and spend a lot more time together than most grown siblings do.

By day, Sara teaches classrooms full of rowdy, third-grade students. While she’s wrangling the short attention spans of 5-year-olds, Ethan is busy as a paralegal.

However, these two siblings both carry music very close to their hearts. They both studied music in school, and grew up in a household filled with song. Their father’s a trombone player, and their mother a violinist. Clearly, both Sara and Ethan inherited those musical genes! Ethan plays in his band all around the city, and, as his sister says, is a musician in his heart of hearts and to the core of his bones.

Sara sometimes jumps in on harmonies during her little brother’s performances, but she also sings with an all-female a cappella group around the city.

But at the end of their individually busy days, one of their favorite things to do is to sit in their living room with an instrument or two, and sing some songs together. Here, they sing the classic “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, and Sara’s classic sound with Ethan’s pure harmonies are sure to put a smile on your face.
