Jessica Macarone recently lost her dad and uncle. Her mom has had difficulty coping. The woman from Newark, New Jersey, likes to play the Powerball jackpot when it gets big.
She decided to purchase a lotto ticket from the small stand. There was a TV station crew that happened to be nearby. It was all the makings for a happy coincidence.
She didn’t win the massive Powerball lot, but she still won big. Jessica was stunned when she looked at the ticket and saw she had won $2 million.
“Are you kidding? Are you kidding me? You’re kidding me,” she said repeatedly. “This is real?”
The bankruptcy lawyer realized she had matched five of the numbers on Wednesday’s drawing of the $435.3 million jackpot. She purchased a $1 ticket and then walked away with $2 million. Not a bad investment.
“When the jackpot gets big, I buy a ticket with the Power Play,” she told WABC. “I think once before, I’ve won a few hundred dollars.”
The money came at the best time possible, since she and her family were having a difficult year.
“I can’t even speak right now,” she told the cameras. “You don’t think you’re going to win anything.”
She never expected to win, but her story shows that you can only win the game if you bother to play. Do you play the lotto? Let us know in the comments!
