Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Shannon Hopes A Reunion Between Mama June And Her Kids Is Still Possible

Despite a strained relationship with her kids, Mama June’s brood has hope for a reunion. In a sit-down with Entertainment Tonight, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon talked about her relationship with Mama June.

“I would say my relationship with her is an on-and-off thing,” Lauryn noted. “We don’t talk every day, but when she does call me, I answer. We’ll have a 5, 10-minute conversation. It’s not about very much, it’s just more of like I’m checking in to make sure everything is OK.”

“She usually tries to text me every other day to check in with me and Alana, of course,” she continued. “Other than that, I haven’t physically seen her in a couple of months.”

Lauryn has taken custody of Alana, who was introduced to the world as Honey Boo Boo, since June’s downward spiral.

It’s not a situation they anticipated, although it’s one many families find themselves in.

“It’s very emotional,” Lauryn said. “At the end of the day, my mom has four kids. Three of us are grown and can take care of ourselves and can cook for ourselves and we all pay our own bills. But at the end of the day, Alana’s still 14 and she needs her mom.”

Aside from taking care of Alana, Lauryn also has a 2-year-old of her own. She admits that while things have been stressful, she knows it’s been good for Alana.
