Kristen Bell recently shared heartfelt advice for a newly married couple.

Posting a handwritten note on Instagram and Twitter in honor of Valentine’s Day 2018, the Veronica Mars star explained that she’d received a letter from a fan who asked her to write a message to his friends who were getting married.

At first, she wrote something straightforward and congratulatory, before deciding to share some of her “old married woman” wisdom instead.

The note reads:

“Vulnerability always begets connection and intimacy. Stay vulnerable with each other.

In 10 years, when the dopamine has waned, remember: Life is a crazy ride. It’s a privilege to go through it with a partner.

Take necessary separateness. It will make your marriage better.

Loving someone despite their faults, failings, or character defects is the most powerful loving thing you can do.

Rejoice in what makes the other person happy, and allow them their individual interests.

Know that everyone is doing the best they can with what they’ve got. So get a bigger emotional tool box to fix your problems.”

For Kristen, this advice is intimate and personal. “After I was finished [writing it], I realized what I wrote is pretty much the A-Z of how Dax Shepard and I keep our relationship healthy. It’s worked for us so far, So here ya go,” she captioned a photo of the note.

Fans of The Good Place actress were blown away by how wise, insightful, and down-to-earth Kristen’s message is. Thousands have commented on it and shared it themselves. “This is perfect. As a woman married for twenty years, who has navigated the bumpy moments as well as celebrated the shared and individual joys with my husband, I concur,” one person eloquently replied on Instagram.
