Kim Kardashian is proud of her new body but regrets how she spoke publicly about her substantial weight loss.
The reality star appeared on the premiere episode of Pretty Big Deal, a podcast from model and body positivity icon Ashley Graham. During their chat, Kim opened up about the backlash she faced earlier this year after revealing on Instagram that she now weighed 119 pounds. People felt that videos Kim shared of her sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner praising her slimmer body were insensitive. Khloé even remarked in one of the videos that Kim looked “anorexic” as she was complimenting her.
Overall, many believe that Kim publicly and extensively focusing on her weight loss could exacerbate eating disorders in the young, impressionable women who follow her every move. Now she’s admitted that, though she thought it was harmless to joke around with her sisters, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star realized that it was “insensitive.”
“I 100% completely understand where people would be coming from that felt that way,” the mom of three said. “My intention is never to offend anyone, and I really apologize if I offended anyone.”
“I know people that have serious eating disorders that have been in and out of the hospital for 15 years, close people,” Kim continued. “So I’ve been through [it], I’ve experienced it enough to have known better.”
Despite admitting that she handled discussing her weight loss poorly, Kim also said she doesn’t intend to stop sharing her fitness journey on Instagram: “I actually just feel healthy and strong and confident, so I just want to post it. I want to show people what heavy weights are doing.”
Do you think the way Kim and her family talked about her weight loss warranted an apology?
