Recently, Kim Kardashian posted a series of videos to her Instagram story, in which she was sporting a strange new accessory.

The “skin implant” around her neck resembles a necklace that glows in the dark, seemingly from beneath her skin.

Which seems totally over the top, even for a Kardashian.

Until you realize that the implant is just temporary. Phew!

It’s all part of an “immersive theatrical art event” in New York called A. Human.

The exhibit, which opened to the public on September 5 and is produced by live entertainment storytelling brand Society of Spectacle, is an art installation that explores the “future of self expression.”

Other celebrities have posted shots of themselves with their own skin implants. Chrissy Teigen sported “skin feathers” that cover her entire chest.

While Queer Eye‘s Tan France wore the “Tudor,” an intricate prosthetic featuring neck ruffles and crystals.

Model Andreja Pejić showed off an otherworldly look, with blue horns sprouting from her shoulders.

The offerings don’t stop there. The installation also features “biological heels,” which are embedded into human feet.

Then there’s the “Ursula,” which pretty much speaks for itself.

People are having mixed reactions to the implants, from fascination to outright disgust.

Publicist Simon Huck, the mastermind behind A. Human, says the exhibit is not, in fact, designed to give you nightmares.

“The exhibition is not meant to be dark or scary,” Simon told Insider.

“It’s a playful space that we want to be thought-provoking. The entire experience is really delivered in a fun, tongue-in-cheek way.”

“We really want to spark imagination and provoke conversation throughout this entertainment experience.”

Is this exhibit fun or terrifying? Debatable.
