Congratulations are in order for the Kardashian family! People has confirmed via a source that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are expecting their third child, who will likely be born in January of next year.

The confirmation comes months after rumors spread about the couple trying to expand their family with the help of a surrogate.

The duo already has two children: 4-year-old North and 21-month-old Saint. Both children were carried to term, however, throughout both pregnancies, the celebrity mom suffered from placenta accreta — a condition that causes the placenta to grow too deeply into the wall of the uterus, making its detachment during birth quite painful.

Kim also suffered a number of other health issues, causing doctors to warn her against future pregnancies.

However, the couple has always wanted a large family and opened up to the idea of surrogacy. On an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim said:

“I’d just love nothing more than to expand my family and just know that I have this world at home that’s safe. And if, for some reason, I left this earth sooner than I really wanted to, then my kids would have a support system at home so that I know that they would be OK if I wasn’t here.”

The Kardashian sisters recently made headlines by donating to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The West family will not be the only one welcoming a highly anticipated new addition in the months to come: Kate Middleton is also pregnant with her third child!
