The Lexington Police Department is ringing in the new year by poking a little fun at itself! The police officers in the Kentucky department are in “mourning” after a prized Krispy Kreme Doughnuts truck caught on fire, and they shared the hilarious photos on their Facebook page.

It all started when officers responded to a call about a vehicle fire. Little did they know, the vehicle that was going up in the flames was a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts truck that had caught on fire while making deliveries. Thankfully, no one was hurt (except the truck and probably some donuts that didn’t survive the glaze — err, blaze). After the fire was put out, officers took photos in front of the scorched truck, “mourning” their loss.

The Lexington Police Department posted the photos to Facebook, captioning the post, “No words.

😭‬.” So far, the post has garnered over 16,000 likes and has generated almost 3,000 comments and 72,000 shares.

One Facebook user commented: “Sorry for your loss guys. I’m not going to try to sugarcoat this, I guess it’s all down-hole from here. I hope the jam wasn’t too bad because of this deep fried truck. I just pray that you all have batter days ahead!” Another user recalled a fond donut truck memory of her own: “My ex was a cop in a small town, one night as a new cop he saw the doughnut delivery truck speeding through. His Sgt immediately got on the radio and said let it go! Lol.”

We’re so sorry for your loss, guys. But donut let this whole fiasco get you down!
