By now, most of us are aware of the devastating mudslides that hit the city of Montecito in California. Homes were destroyed, people were killed, and many others were injured by the horrible disaster. A video of a 14-year-old girl named Lauren Cantin went viral as the shocking footage showed rescuers pulling her out of the mud.

The video stunned many people, including Keith Hudson. As a resident of Montecito, Keith was no stranger to natural disasters. He lived through the wildfires and then — with barely a respite — the mudslides.

But when he saw the video, it left him shellshocked. “It just really touched me,” Keith said.

Just seeing the image of the teen being carried out by the firefighters while surrounded by mud captured his heart. He decided to try and find a way to help the teen, or at least make her feel better again — and he did it by trying to get ahold of his daughter.

“I wanted to make sure that she goes to one of my daughter’s concerts if possible. Just to help her out, you know?” he said.

Oh, Keith’s daughter? None other than pop star Katy Perry!

Keith told FOX 11 Los Angeles that people should always be willing to help each other, especially in times of need, even if it’s just some concert tickets and the chance to meet a pop star.
