Kate Middleton Has Been Taking Tennis Lessons And She’s A Natural. Obviously.

Kate Middleton may be a very busy woman, but she also prioritizes taking time for herself and her family.

Kate’s known for her love of staying active and the outdoors. She’s been focusing on that recently, and she’s bringing the whole family along for it. Kate and William have been taking tennis lessons at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, South London. On some occasions, the kids come along, playing on the outdoor playground while mom and dad work on their serve.

Of course, it’s not the first time either of the royals have dabbled in sports. Kate has been a longtime athlete, participating in a number of sports during her boarding school days.

She’s done everything from running cross-country to swimming to playing field hockey. Early on in their relationship, the couple was known to hit the slopes together. Rumors have suggested that Kate’s an even better skier than her husband. Insiders are now claiming the same is true of their tennis skills.

Kate Middleton is dedicating some time to her love of tennis. She’s even getting the whole family in on it. The Duchess of Cambridge is taking tennis lessons, as are Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.

Kate has a long history of being athletic. In boarding school, she participated in a number of sports, including cross-country, swimming, field hockey, and tennis. She’s also spoken before about her active, outdoorsy childhood.

Athletics were even a point of bonding between William and Kate in the early days of their relationship. One of the first times they were photographed together was when Kate joined the royal family on a ski trip in Klosters, Switzerland, in 2005. She’d also gone the year before when their relationship was still under wraps.

In the summer of 2007, Kate was training with the Sisterhood cross-Channel rowing team. Since her relationship with Prince William was already public, the paparazzi were constantly tailing her. Despite months of training, she was forced to drop out due to safety concerns regarding the incessant press presence.

Kate also enjoys sports as a spectator. She’s an annual attendee at Wimbledon, often catching a match with William, sister-in-law Meghan Markle, sister Pippa Middleton, or any number of her friends. She even presented trophies at the event this past summer.

William has a history as an athlete as well. He played a cross between soccer and rugby known as the Eton Field Game during his time at the school. At the University of St. Andrews, where he met Kate, he played rugby as well.

These days, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been seen taking tennis lessons at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in Fulham, South London. While sometimes it’s just the two of them, other times the kids tag along. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have been seen on the outdoor playground at the club.

Insiders have told People that William and Kate have been enjoying the sport for a while. Kate reportedly even played during her pregnancy with Prince Louis. “It wasn’t hard-going tennis — they weren’t rushing around. They are obviously choosing to improve their tennis,” a source explained.

The source also pointed out that Kate has some real skills. Her tennis has gotten seriously impressive, and people are taking notice. “She hits the ball with nice topspin,” they remarked. “She is a good minor athlete.”

Kate and William have been spotted at the club with just George and Charlotte. The four enjoyed lunch with no nannies or help in sight. The source said the kids “looked perky and alert. It was a normal family of four. They were enjoying the sport and some lovely, natural family time.”

William and Kate have come to enjoy playing tennis so much, they have a court at their country home. The Anmer Hall court at their Norfolk home is state of the art. It was moved from another area on the estate in 2015.

Prince George is also taking an interest in tennis. On one of Kate’s trips to Wimbledon, she sat and chatted with British tennis player Katie Boulter and retired British star athlete Anne Keothavong. She revealed that the little prince’s favorite player is Roger Federer.

Prince George got the chance to play with Roger over the summer. Roger visited the Cambridges at Anmer Hall and got some time in with the 6-year-old. “At that stage, it’s all about touching the ball, it’s the same with my boys,” Roger told Daily Star.

“His mum has always enjoyed tennis,” he continued. “I hope he’ll stay the same in a few years’ time and this is not just an in-the-moment situation.” How cute is it to imagine those two getting quality time in on the court!
