There’s nothing like a girl’s day out during the summer. For some ladies, this happens to be a little more of a high-profile endeavor than for others.
Take, for example, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex heading out to take in some tennis at Wimbledon!
Crowds were delighted to see the royal sisters-in-law stepping out together. It marks the third time they’ve appeared together in recent weeks, and it seems they’re starting to get quite chummy. This marks the first appearance where they’ve left their husbands behind to enjoy some female bonding.
The royals took the time to meet some of the Wimbledon ball boys and girls before the match.
You can tell that Meghan Markle, the newest member of the royal family, is starting to get the hang of things. Kate has certainly been helpful to that end, guiding her not only through royal life but also through the beginnings of married life.
The duchesses came out to take in the women’s singles final at the Wimbledon Championships this past weekend.
Kate and Meghan were a picture of royal graciousness making their entrance.
Before the day’s events began, the royal sisters-in-law met with a number of players, including Paralympic athlete Dylan Alcott.
Here, the duchesses meet with Tia Carter, who performed the coin toss during the women’s singles final.
Kate seemed absolutely delighted to chat with the 11-year-old about tennis.
Meghan chatted with Tia about what she was looking forward to most in the day.
Kate serves as the royal patron to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, where the day’s events took place.
Junior doubles finalists Whitney Osuigwe and Caty McNally were excited to be among those to meet Kate and Meghan.
The duchesses both looked chic in their outfits. Kate wore a cream polka dot dress by designer Jenny Packham. Meghan wore a blue and white striped button-down shirt with wide-legged Ralph Lauren pants.
The outing was special for both Kate and Meghan. Kate is an avid tennis fan who enjoys playing the sport as much as she enjoys watching it. Meghan is a close friend of Serena Williams, who was competing in the match.
In an interview with the BBC a few years ago, Kate described her love for Wimbledon. “It’s such, sort of, a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters, myself, it inspired me, when I was younger, to get involved in the game.”
Meghan also holds Wimbledon dear. She attended for the first time around the time she was set up on a blind date with Prince Harry.
We can’t help but notice that the more time the royal sisters-in-law spend together, the more they seem to mirror each other’s movements.
We think it’s sweet to see them out together, bonding and cherishing something that has so much meaning to both of them.
Although Serena Williams didn’t pull through with a victory, her touching speech about playing for mothers definitely impacted the royals. Meghan reportedly teared up at the emotional speech, and Kate looked moved as well. It’s just another lovely memory that the two duchesses will be able to share.
