The Golden Gophers are the college football team of the University of Minnesota, and P.J. Fleck is their new head coach.

Recently, Coach Fleck invited Kyle Tanner, a Gophers fan from a local children’s hospital, to attend a meeting with the entire team.

Kyle also got to meet his favorite player, Justin Juenemann.

Justin was a senior who played on the Gophers team. He had never started in a single game, but was well-liked throughout the entire organization.

Little did Justin know that what started out as a heartwarming gathering for young Kyle actually hid a very special surprise for him!

In the video below, Justin and his teammates were gathered together, while Coach Fleck and Kyle stood before them all.

Then, Kyle got the chance to shoot a hydraulic T-shirt cannon, and he chose to shoot one directly at his favorite player, Justin.

Justin caught the T-shirt and everyone cheered, but just as he was in the process of sitting down, the coach told him to read the shirt.

Initially, Justin just thought it had some Gophers-related memorabilia on it.

He couldn’t have been more wrong!

He opened up up the shirt and read, “Justin, congrats on earning a scholarship!”

The crowd erupted again at the surprise, and then Justin decided to share the news with his mom.
