Today in Very Baffling Celebrity News, Justin Bieber took to Twitter to literally pick a fight with Tom Cruise.

Why? Nobody knows.

According to Billboard, it all started when Justin (who is currently taking a hiatus from making music) tweeted his challenge on Sunday evening. He went straight for the jugular, too, basically saying that the Mission Impossible star is a coward if he says no.

“I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom, if you don’t take this fight [you’re] scared and you will never live it down,” the singer wrote. The Octagon, for those not familiar with the mixed martial arts world, is the eight-sided cage used for Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts.

Notably, Justin didn’t tag Tom in his tweet — the actor does have an official Twitter account but isn’t particularly active there, so Justin may not have realized — but he did tag UFC president Dana White when asking who was “willing to put on the fight.”

As of Monday, Tom hadn’t responded to the challenge (at least not publicly!). But Justin’s tweet caught the attention of plenty of other famous figures, including Irish UFC star Conor McGregor.

“If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout,” the MMA fighter tweeted. “Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”

Needless to say, fans are extremely perplexed. Will the fight come to fruition, and if not, will we ever find out what this was all about? Probably not, but the whole thing is admittedly kind of hilarious.

And for the record, my money is on Tom.
