With all of these film reboots taking place, it was a little hard at first to see Jumanji follow the same plan.
But then, something amazing happened. The creators realized that they could honor the original yet still create an entirely different story. Thus, the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle completely stood on its own. And dare I say, it added a lot of humor to the franchise. This year, we’re getting a third Jumanji installment — Jumanji: The Next Level, which is coming out on December 13.
The cast, which includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart, are all coming back.
Even Nick Jonas, who had quite an important role in Welcome to the Jungle, will be returning. Plus, more notable celebrities have joined, like Danny Glover, Awkwafina and Danny DeVito.
Dwayne chatted with Entertainment Tonight and talked up the character-switching that’ll take place this time around. Danny DeVito will be taking over his character, and Danny Glover will turn into Kevin Hart. This type of role takes serious acting chops, which is probably why they made sure that nobody in the cast was a weak link.
The cast also seems thrilled to add Awkwafina to the mix, with Dwayne saying that her character is particularly interesting. “She’s got moves, sass, style,” Jack Black adds.
The video shows the cast performing their own stunts and lets viewers see how the stunts are performed, giving every movie buff a great chance to see how action films are made. Watch the video, and consider buying your tickets in advance.
