12-Year Old Belts Out Riveting Vocal On ‘AGT’ And Julianne Hough Makes His Dreams Come True

A 12-year-old boy with big dreams has gotten one step closer to living them, thanks to Julianne Hough.

Luke Islam appeared on the competition show to chase his dreams of a Broadway career. He fell in love with performing at a young age, telling Terry Crews, “When I was little, we did this little showcase at my preschool, and ever since then I’ve loved performing.”

Luke enters ticket lotteries for chances to see all his favorite shows on Broadway. His mom took him to his first show when he was 6 years old, and it changed his life. Now America’s Got Talent has delivered the young man another life-changing moment.

Luke introduced himself to the judges. When Gabrielle Union asked if he had a favorite, he admitted a preference for Julianne Hough. “Me and my sister have been following you and your brother’s dancing for a very long time,” Luke explained.

After introductions were out of the way, Luke blew the crowd away with a performance of “She Used to Be Mine” from Broadway hit Waitress. He proved his ability to command the stage and showed some truly impressive confidence. By the end of his performance, the audience and all four judges were on their feet.

Simon Cowell offered some encouraging feedback before it was Julianne’s turn to speak. When she did, Julianne told Luke, “Not only are you going to become a star and get your dream to come true, I don’t think you need to wait that much longer,” she said before slamming her Golden Buzzer. Luke fell to his knees with tears streaming down his face as he realized the opportunity ahead of him.

“I can’t believe it. I’m in shock,” he said through his tears. “I never expected something like this to happen in my whole life. I’m so grateful. Thank you so much!”
