Gazing at the autumnal foliage is always lovely. With all the colors, it’s hard to be in a bad mood.
Of course, some people want to celebrate the season a bit more, and if you’re artist Jörg Düsterwald (and his model, Nadine), you go all out.
Jörg is a body painter who has been creating masterpieces on the human body for nearly 20 years, seamlessly blending human models into their backdrops.
His latest project celebrates all things autumn in the beautiful forests of Lower Saxony in Germany.
Body painting is a popular art form, and uses a person’s body rather than a flat surface to create all kinds of mind-bending illusions. For obvious reasons, it’s very popular around Halloween, but body painting events happen year-round, all over the world.
Many people even like to try it themselves, coming up with some seriously inventive looks.
Check out this fun fall project and see how incredible body painting can be!
Together with model Nadine and photographer Tschi ponnique Skupin, Jörg set out into the picturesque woods for a fall-themed photo shoot.
Body painting requires the models to be completely or at least mostly nude, with the paint covering their skin. We hope it wasn't too cold the day of the shoot!
Body paint can be used to make a person blend in or stand out.
With her camouflage pattern of leaves, Nadine is like autumn personified.
To achieve such detail, hours of work went into the painting process.
After so many years of practice, Jörg can create just about any image on a human body.
In this photo, the body painting is so lifelike that Nadine all but disappears into her surroundings.
Can you spot her?
While stripping down and getting covered in paint certainly isn't for everyone, we're glad some people are game — because it makes for some great art!
