Joanna Gaines’ Latest Photo Of Baby Crew Proves He’s Growing Faster Than His Clothes Can Keep Up

by Angela Andaloro

There’s no questioning that Joanna Gaines is an experienced mom. It’s easy to think it all must come as second nature to her now that she’s raising her fifth child. Every kid is wildly different, however. Crew is keeping Chip and Jo on their toes by growing up fast. He’s learning and changing day after day, and it’s hard not to take notice.

The new year has put Joanna in a reflective mood. She posted a thoughtful caption with a photo of Crew on New Year’s Day. In it, Joanna expresses how quickly time is passing her by. She pauses for a beat to reflect on the fact that, while her youngest child still needs her constant care, her oldest is well into his teen years. She discusses how son Drake will be driving and going off to college before she knows it.

Just over a week later, another photo of Crew drove the point home. The little guy is busting out of his clothes, ready for the next size up! Scroll through to see the sweet picture.

Time is really flying by! It doesn’t feel like a year since we learned that the family at the heart of Fixer Upper would be growing by one. Yet here we are.

Chip and Joanna turned the focus to family as they prepared for baby No. 5. The baby, whom Chip says he knew from the jump would be a boy, joined older siblings Drake, Ella Rose, Duke, and Emmie Kay.

That did mean saying goodbye to Fixer Upper, which wasn’t easy for the couple.

In a post on the Magnolia blog, Chip and Joanna wrote, “Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.”

Chip and Joanna had a busy summer. They continued working on their businesses and preparing for the arrival of their little boy. That included Joanna’s sweet book-themed baby shower.

Just a few weeks later, Crew made his surprise entrance into the world. Despite being born a few weeks early, both mom and baby were happy and healthy.

We’ve learned a lot about Crew since his early summer arrival. For one, that olive/army green hue is definitely his color!

And Crew is definitely a cuddle bug! We’ve gotten so many sweet glimpses of him enjoying being held close by mom, dad, and his siblings. Chip’s and Joanna’s Instagram accounts are filled with the cute family photos.

Like the other Gaines children, Crew’s definitely interested in the family business. Chip’s got him all set up as Magnolia’s newest customer service rep. He’s clearly doing an amazing job!

Before we knew it, it was Christmastime. Crew’s first Christmas looked like one for the books, full of family and fun.

It seems like we all blinked and the new year was upon us. It clearly felt the same way for Joanna, who tried to articulate everything that time of year made her feel. In the lengthy caption, Joanna vowed to focus on “the wonder of now.”

Part of that reflection was about baby Crew and how much he’s grown in six short months. It’s about how he’s blowing through sizes of clothing, but also about so much more. She revealed, “I mean Crew is already six months old and saying ‘mama.'”

Her oldest baby is also on her mind. Drake is now 14 years old.

Drake will be driving in two years and off to college in four. And just like that, I have found myself mourning the past but now in future tense,” she wrote.

Joanna’s reflections on the passage of time and her vow to live in the moment are things that we should all consider.

I’m challenging myself in this new year to live for now,” she explained. “The present. Taking in every breath, every sight, and sound and holding it dearly. Not thinking about how the good ol’ days have passed us by or how the best is yet to come.”

What better way to be in the moment with her kids than to include them in a project? Joanna recently announced that she and the kids have worked together on a children’s book chronicling the growth of their family garden. We Are the Gardeners is due out this spring!
