Joanna Gaines Had A Book-Themed Baby Shower, And The Pictures Are Lit-erally Too Cute For Words

by Angela Andaloro

HGTV power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines are embarking on an exciting new project in the wake of Fixer Upper‘s series finale: parenthood!

Earlier this year, the Texas DIYers surprised fans by revealing that Joanna was expecting a baby boy, their fifth child together after sons Drake, 12, and Duke, 8, and daughters Ella, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7.

“Gaines party of 7,” Chip captioned a sweet photo on his Instagram account in January, adding, “If you’re still confused.. WE ARE PREGNANT.”

This past weekend, the couple’s closest friends and family came together to throw a literary-themed baby shower for the expectant mama, 40, who’s due sometime this summer. The festive bash was definitely one for the books (pun intended), and these adorable photos from the party prove that there’s plenty of love to go around for Baby Gaines.

"I Like Big Books and I Cannot Lie!"

Joanna Gaines took to Instagram to share shots from the festivities, captioning her post, “I like big books and I cannot lie!”

“Blown away by the creativity and thoughtfulness of my friends,” she added, “just the cutest book shower ever for baby Gaines! Feelin’ the love… now I just need to figure out how to shove these books in my car so I can get them to the farm! #babygotbooks.”

Joanna’s friends went above and beyond with little accents that perfectly suited both the party’s theme and her personal style. How adorable are these plants made out of book pages?

This shot reveals shelves full of books gifted to Joanna and her baby at the shower. Can you make out any of their titles?

While this balloon cluster and the adjacent oversized books stole the show decor-wise, one can’t help but notice that scrumptious-looking chocolate cake sitting nearby. Too cute!

Fans have followed Joanna's journey with Baby No. 5.

Chip and Joanna announced the upcoming arrival of their son on January 2, three months after revealing that Fixer Upper was ending its five-season run on HGTV.

Joanna shared this sonogram of their little one a day after their official pregnancy announcement.

“Chip swears he can already tell it’s a boy,” she wrote at the time.

Chip announced the baby's gender on Twitter.

Turns out Chip was right!

Mr. Gaines took to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes clip from Fixer Upper in which the couple revealed that they were expecting a boy.

While Chip and Joanna tend to keep their kids’ faces off social media, you can tell they are all wonderful little humans just based on the few photos and videos of them their parents have shared over the years.

Life in the Gaines’ household looks like a blast! Such snapshots from their day-to-day lives reveal that their kids lead refreshingly normal lives despite their parents’ fame.

Their Waco, Texas, home is famously TV-free. Rather than sit in front of a screen, their kids play outside and spend time with one another.

So What's Next?

So What's Next?

Joanna’s spent much of her pregnancy working on her latest book, Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave. The decorating guide drops November 6, People reports.

“Home is so personal, and for me, I want it to be a place where my family feels loved, safe, and at ease,” she told the magazine. “Creating a space that tells your story is really what it’s all about.”

Homebody will be Joanna’s third book. She and Chip documented their love story in The Magnolia Story, which came out in October 2016; her cookbook, Magnolia Table, was published last April.

Chip, for his part, recently completed the Silo District Marathon, raising $250,000 for cancer research in the process. (Oh, and he wore his tool belt the whole run long!)

Together, Chip and Joanna have been busy running their local businesses in Waco, including a restaurant, a real estate company, and a warehouse shop.

Whew! Don’t expect a fifth child to slow these two down whatsoever.
