In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few days, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are officially engaged!
This will be baseball star Alex’s second marriage and J.Lo’s fourth. Both stars posted the same engagement shot on Twitter and Instagram.
“She said yes,” A-Rod’s caption read.
Meanwhile, J.Lo’s caption was even simpler: a row of 11 heart emojis.
The engagement ring is a simple emerald-cut diamond solitaire ring. Experts say it could be worth anywhere from $1 million to $5 million.
Jennifer’s “new emerald-cut stunner is what engagement ring dreams are made of,” jewelry and style expert Lauren McCawley told E! “An approximate 15-carat diamond sparkles in a platinum solitaire setting and could easily retail for $1 million.”
Another expert estimated the ring to be a 20-carat diamond worth about $5 million.
So how does the ring compare with J.Lo’s first four engagement rings? Let’s take a walk down memory lane to find out!
Jennifer’s first marriage took place all the way back in 1997 — over 20 years ago!
She married Ojani Noa, a waiter-turned-restaurateur at the time. They were married for less than a year. Ojani gifted Jen with a $100,000 marquis-cut diamond engagement ring.
Unfortunately, their relationship soured after their divorce. Ojani threatened to release a sex tape of Jen as revenge, forcing Jen to sue him.
In 2001, Jen married again (after a brief stint with Sean Combs aka Puff Daddy at the time). This time, she married a former backup dancer, Cris Judd.
Cris gave Jen an emerald-cut diamond ring, estimated to be worth six figures. Their marriage, too, lasted less than a year. The divorce was finalized while J.Lo was engaged to Ben Affleck.
In November 2002, Jen got engaged to Ben, and they were forever memorialized with the original celebrity couple nickname: Bennifer. The two met when they filmed the movie Gigli together.
Ben gave the singer-actress a 6.1-carat pink diamond engagement ring, worth an estimated $2.5 million (!!!). The Harry Winston ring was the subject of many paparazzi photos that year.
The couple’s actual relationship was also short-lived. They planned to marry in September 2003, then postponed the nuptials and eventually split for good in January 2004.
And within six months, Jennifer was married to her next boo. She married Marc Anthony, a longtime friend and fellow singer.
Marc proposed with an 8.5-carat blue diamond ring, also from Harry Winston. Not one to be outdone by Jen’s former husbands and fiancés, Marc chose a ring that was worth an estimated $4 million.
Their marriage lasted almost a decade; they separated in 2011.
That brings us to last weekend! J.Lo and her former pro baseball player boyfriend of two years announced their engagement on Instagram and Twitter on Saturday.
The ring is another emerald-cut diamond engagement ring. The 15-carat ring is estimated to be worth anywhere from $1 million to $5 million.
Yes, this is J.Lo’s fifth engagement so far. But A-Rod and J.Lo seem like the perfect couple, if you ask anyone who knows literally anything about them.
Fans on social media have been busy congratulating the couple and making predictions about their upcoming wedding. Will it take place in Paris? New York? Miami?!
Congratulations to the happy pair and their even happier blended families!
