Stephanie Jaegers called her husband Michael in a panic. She was experiencing severe abdominal pain and thought it was the result of kidney stones.
Michael rushed home to drive Stephanie to Piedmont Henry Hospital in Georgia.
After examining Stephanie, doctors had one question for her: “Are you pregnant?”
“No,” Stephanie replied. “I would know.”
Doctors kept pressing her, but she was defiant. “In my mind I’m thinking, ‘I’m going to have to tell this man again there’s no baby in there.”
However, an ultrasound contradicted what Stephanie and Michael told doctors. Not only did she not have kidney stones, but Stephanie was pregnant with her fourth child…
…And not only was Stephanie pregnant with a surprise baby, but she was in labor, hence the abdominal pain!
How could this be? Doctors had previously told the pre-menopausal mother of three that she was highly unlikely to bear any more children. Plus, Stephanie continued to have a menstrual cycle.
