In 2005, The Oprah Winfrey Show gathered a group of teenage girls to share their deepest and darkest thoughts on everything from body image issues to emotional hang-ups.
Oprah’s entire staff, along with her celebrity guest, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, were shocked by the girls’ responses to the open and candid discussion.
One teen says she eats when she’s sad or stressed, and hates that she’s “so fat.” Another says she had already had a breast reduction, only to find it made her feel even more insecure.
But Jada directed her attention to 17-year-old Amanda, who called herself a “hideous beast” and admitted she hated her chin more than anything.
“I’m the last person anyone would look at,” Amanda said.
The teen’s heartbreaking confession moved the actress instantly and she wasted no time in responding.
“Amanda, I’m looking at you right now…” she began.
You do not want to miss Jada’s heartfelt response. It’s something all of us should hear.
