Each week on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, the actress gets extremely candid about the joys, struggles, and triumphs of womanhood.

In a new episode, Jada opened up about her history of addictions — including sex addiction.

“My sort of addictions jump, they jump around,” Jada said in the episode. “When I was younger, I definitely think I had a sex addiction of some kind.”

Some people might dismiss the idea of sex “addiction” — after all, doesn’t everybody want to have more sex? But Jada pointed out that it’s not about how much sex you’re having, but rather why.

“It’s not what you’re doing but how you’re with it.

Why you’re doing it. It’s the behavior that’s attached to it because if you want to have a lot of sex, that’s great, but why are you having all that sex? That’s what you’ve got to look at.”

With her addiction, it was a feeling “that everything could get fixed by sex.”

That’s not the only addiction Jada has faced, either. She’s also struggled with binge-drinking and a workout addiction.

“I remember reaching a rock bottom that time I was in the house by myself and I had those two bottles of wine and was going for the third bottle,” Jada recalled. “And I was like, ‘Now hold up. You’re in this house by yourself going onto your third bottle of wine? You might have a problem.’”

Luckily, Jada overcame her addictions without outside help by going cold turkey. But her tendency to binge remains a lifelong struggle.

“I am a binger,” Jada said. “I always have to watch myself and how I can just get obsessed with things.”
