They say dogs are a man’s best friend, but what about a baby’s best friend?

According to Caters News, 11-year-old Simba, the Jack Russell, and 11-month-old Danni, the human baby, are definitely the best of friends. And like any good best friend, Simba is there for Danni every step of the way — even though she can’t quite take steps yet.

In the video below, Simba tries to teach Danni how to crawl along the carpet. I’d be willing to bet that Simba loves to run around and move quickly, like most Jack Russells, but she doesn’t seem to mind slowing down and crawling on her belly if it means she gets to play with her baby sister.

Danni is one determined baby, but even when she gets tired, Simba keeps her going. I’m sure Danni will be a crawling expert in no time — and she’ll be running alongside Simba before we know it.

If anything, this video convinced me that there’s a special bond between babies and dogs we’ll never understand. I love how they seem to understand each other and learn from one another. After all, who needs a human friend when you have someone like Simba in your life?
