Buying a house is a big commitment. You have to set aside money to make the big purchase, and once you’ve got the home, you also have to decorate and organize the space with all your furniture and belongings.
When Krysta and Cristina got their dog Whiskey, their spacious apartment suddenly felt too small. So, they decided to invest in their very first home.
Even though their new house has plenty of room for two humans and a pup, Krysta and Cristina struggle to split the space in an aesthetically pleasing way. Most noticeably, their living room — the first room people walk into when they enter the house — is cluttered with jackets and shoes on the floor.
“Function, style, and the layout — those are probably our biggest challenges,” says Cristina. “We come in, and I don’t have a place to put my backpack or my jacket.”
With the help of the IKEA Home Tour Squad, Krysta and Cristina transformed their disorganized space into a functional living room and foyer.
“I walked in earlier today, and I had my jacket, and I was almost going to put it on the chair, and I was like, ‘Wait, no! I have a place for this now,'” says Cristina after the redesign. “I feel a lot more relaxed in this space with both of us in here.”
Krysta and Cristina were especially impressed with their IKEA furniture, which neatly hides their shoes, leashes, and other belongings.
“The fact that everything’s concealed, but there’s so much room to put things in there — it’s almost amazing to me,” says Cristina.
